A mysterious rebrand has turned Chris Stussy into Chris Stassy, sparking dispute rumors, confusion, and a name change nobody can pronounce differently.

Chris Stussy has shocked the electronic music world with an announcement that initially looked almost too subtle to be real. The notable groovy house DJ, whose real name is Niels Christian Steenbergen, has officially changed his artist name to Chris Stassy. Yes, one letter has moved, but apparently that single vowel has managed to send an entire fanbase into a frenzy.

If that has been the reason, the timing has made the situation even more bizarre: one name has changed, but almost everyone will probably continue saying “Stussy” anyway.

As Chris Stussy has made a name for himself over time, he has built a loyal following through his groove-driven tech house sound, packed showcases for his Up The Stuss brand, and even brought a sold-out Gen-Z fanbase that has everyone jumping like a soccer team scoring a goal. He has also recently delivered a B2B set with Carl Cox at UNVRS Ibiza and a 10-hour solo gig in Amsterdam, proving that a new vowel has hardly slowed down his momentum.

For now, the rest of his creative universe has remained largely untouched. His label has kept the Up The Stuss name, while his existing music catalog has continued to shift the vowel on streaming platforms. Meanwhile, his social accounts have already switched to Chris Stassy. Naturally, fans have immediately pointed out the obvious problem: “Up The Stass” simply does not roll off the tongue with quite the same glorious nonsense.

The new name has officially been introduced at upcoming N.A.M.E. party series dates in Birmingham on August 22 and Amsterdam on August 27. Fellow artists have offered support, while fans have responded with confusion, jokes, and calls for an official Stüssy merch collaboration that would have probably made this whole story even funnier. Chris Stussy has become Chris Stassy, but adjusting to it? That’s now the really hard part.
