Slipknot parts ways with turntablist Sid Wilson due to ‘behavioral issues’

Slipknot confirms Sid Wilson’s departure after more than two decades with the band.

Slipknot has reportedly parted ways with longtime turntablist Sid Wilson, citing “behavioral issues” as the reason.

A brief announcement appeared on the band’s official website confirming his departure, but it was reportedly removed soon after. The statement offered little detail, leaving fans with few specifics about what led to the decision.

Wilson, who performs under the name DJ Starscream, joined Slipknot in 1998 and has been a key part of the band’s sound and live shows for more than two decades. His impressive turntable work, unpredictable stage presence, and signature masked persona made him one of the most recognizable members of the esteemed metal group.

Over the years, Wilson became known for intense onstage antics, and his contributions helped set Slipknot apart from more traditional heavy metal and nu-metal acts by adding scratching, samples, and electronic elements.

His abrupt exit from the band marks another significant change for Slipknot, who has seen several departures throughout their career. Founding drummer Joey Jordison left in 2013, and percussionist Chris Fehn and drummer Jay Weinberg also departed in more recent years.

The news comes as Slipknot maintains an extensive touring schedule, raising questions about how the band will handle upcoming performances without Wilson. It remains unclear whether another musician will fill his role or whether the group will continue with a reduced member roster.

Slipknot has not provided further details about the “behavioral issues” referenced in the announcement, leaving speculation limited to the statement’s wording. Wilson’s departure would mark the end of more than 25 years with the band. For now, supporters will have to wait for further clarification from Slipknot or Wilson about the circumstances behind the split.
