Cam Jones lands on Zealous Records with energetic ‘Impatient’ EP
With early support from Gorgon City, MEDUZA, and Mau P, Cam Jones’ new EP is one to hear before the hype explodes.
The release marks Jones’ debut on a label known for championing promising talent before the wider scene catches on. Founded by artist Josh Dean in 2020, Zealous has grown its catalogue by backing artists early, with releases reaching more than 200 countries. The label has also hosted more than 30 events across Nottingham and London. Jones now joins that roster with a project rooted in groove, texture, and old-school inspiration.
Cam Jones enters a new chapter with a debut on Nottingham’s Zealous Records via the three-track ‘Impatient’ EP. Released on August 13 as the label’s 24th catalog entry, the tech house project has already picked up support from major names including Gorgon City, MEDUZA, Mau P, Sam Divine, Shiba San, and Deeper Purpose.
The EP opens with its title track, “Impatient,” driven by a prominent cowbell, punchy rhythms, and a vocal hook that gives the production plenty of character. The track emerged from a period when Jones was deeply immersed in ’80s production, bringing chopped vocals and warm textures into a modern club setting. Apparently, the cowbell still has unfinished business on the dance floor.
“Unfaithful” follows, continuing the retro-inspired approach while pushing the groove in a slightly different direction. Together, the two tracks form a cohesive pairing that reflects the production era that inspired them. Rather than relying on brute-force drops, Jones lets the rhythms and textures do much of the heavy lifting.
On the B-side, “Big Sound” showcases another dimension of Jones’ work. The rolling progressive cut builds tension before delivering its payoff, giving the EP a welcome change of pace. The track has already emerged as an early favorite among DJs, with Ammo Avenue and ItaloBros specifically backing it.
With Cam Jones’ introduction to Zealous Records, the EP offers house heads a balance of nostalgic production touches and contemporary club energy. The project has also drawn support from an impressive roster of Ibiza residency mainstays, including Jamie Jones, Marco Carola, and Joseph Capriati. For a label debut, Jones has certainly arrived impatiently, and the dance floor is already listening.
