Damian Lazarus reveals a lightning bolt hit his studio resulting in a catastrophic fire

Damian Lazarus has seen his studio destroyed after a lightning strike sparked a devastating fire, wiping out a major part of his creative history.

Damian Lazarus has revealed that a lightning strike caused a devastating fire at his studio, destroying a major part of the space and wiping out years of memories and creative history. The Crosstown Rebels boss shared the news with fans while reflecting on the unexpected loss.

According to Lazarus, the lightning bolt hit his studio and set off a chain of events that eventually caused the entire room to catch fire. The blaze was serious enough to destroy a huge portion of the studio, leaving him to deal with the aftermath.

Thankfully, the building itself was able to survive the fire thanks to fire-resistant soundproofing that Lazarus had installed. The insulation helped keep the structure intact, and the fire eventually burned itself out after running out of oxygen inside the room.

Among the biggest pieces of good news is that Lazarus had just finished working on a new single before the fire. Luckily, the project was saved, meaning the track is still expected to arrive later this year as originally planned.

While the loss is clearly devastating, Lazarus is also taking a reflective approach to the situation. He shared a Buddhist saying about a burned-down barn allowing someone to finally see the moon, using it as a reminder that even the things we create and hold onto are ultimately temporary.

The studio, known as Monastic Studios, may be gone, but the music created there will live on. Lazarus closed his message by saying goodbye to the space and remembering the magic made inside its walls, turning a heartbreaking loss into a tribute to everything the studio helped create.

Hey everyone, I'm Neil! I first joined the dance community back in 2019 when my friend dragged me to Moonrise, my first-ever music festival, and I became hooked ever since. I like to dabble in most genres with my favorites being tech house and melodic techno. When it comes to studio output, Camelphat is part of my daily listening rotation and for a live performance, I'll never miss a Solomun set. You can likely catch me on the dance floor somewhere in Brooklyn!
