Change The Beat pledges 300 label signings for women artists by 2028
Change the Beat is putting a number on equity, pledging to turn 300 women label signings into reality within two years.
A global nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and gender-expansive electronic music artists has announced an ambitious target to help 300 artists secure record label signings within the next two years. Change the Beat outlined a series of milestones aimed at addressing underrepresentation in electronic music, including plans to support 600 artists within five years and 1,500 within a decade.
The organization is launching The Demo Room, a program that connects emerging artists directly with record labels. The initiative allows labels to share their A&R priorities while giving artists a platform to submit music and receive professional feedback.

“We’re not here simply to talk about the challenges facing women and gender-expansive artists — we’re here to be part of the solution,” said Sydney Blu, the electronic music artist and producer who founded the organization. “Our focus is on creating real opportunities through education, mentorship, industry access, and artist development.”
Change the Beat has already facilitated more than 100 label signings since its founding in 2021 as 23by23. The organization now has more than 1,200 members and has helped artists release music with labels including Toolroom, Dirtybird and HE.SHE.THEY.
The group also operates a Remix Contest Programme that has secured official release opportunities with major labels such as Drumcode, mau5trap, Armada, Anjunadeep and Insomniac Records.
Blu described the new targets as “ambitious by design” but said they are achievable through consistent monthly opportunities provided by programs including the organization’s Going Global artist development initiative.
Change the Beat offers support through masterclasses, workshops and club events across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe. The organization previously received the Beatport Parity Prize for nonprofit excellence in dance music.
