James Hype reveals wife Tita Lau suffered a miscarriage

James Hype has broken his silence on Instagram Reels as his wife, Tita Lau, shared her heartbreaking miscarriage journey.

British DJ/producer James Hype has shared heartbreaking news with fans. His wife, fellow DJ Tita Lau, suffered a miscarriage late last month. The couple initially announced the miscarriage through an emotional post, which James Hype followed with a candid Instagram reel to fans.

In his reel, James shared that he has pretended that everything is fine when it is not. He described the miscarriage as “the craziest experience of loss that we’ve ever felt.” He emphasized the power of emotion through music, revealing that he and Tita had already planned which song would be their baby’s first in the world. Tita has previously identified Michael Jackson as her biggest musical inspiration, so the couple had decided on one of his songs. Poignantly, James mentioned that it’ll still be baby’s first song, just not yet.

Tita had previously revealed they had been trying to conceive for two years. Their busy touring schedules made it difficult to spend time together, she explained. They had started preparing for IVF treatment and met with several doctors. Just before beginning the process, Tita took a pregnancy test, which turned out positive.

The couple described the moment as a whirlwind of emotions during their first scan. However, a few weeks later, Tita felt something wasn’t right. She sought another scan and received devastating news. Doctors diagnosed it as a missed miscarriage, likely caused by chromosomal issues. Her body believed it was pregnant, but the baby had stopped developing. Tita described the experience as “the hardest thing” they’ve faced together.

Although it was extremely difficult, James Hype shared publicly to be transparent with fans and open the conversation to those experiencing the same struggles. “I wanted to be authentic because that’s what I always try and do,” he said. James Hype also praised Tita for her strength and poise in speaking out while he couldn’t put his emotions into words.

As Tita and James continue to heal both physically and emotionally, they have asked for privacy to navigate this difficult time. The Exron team sends all its love and positivity to the couple. To others going through similar pain: you are not alone.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 12 consecutive years (still counting). As an avid traveler, I'm definitely not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My current bucket list festivals right now are Tomorrowland in Belgium, Cercle Festival in France, Kappa Futur in Italy, and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists are Franky Wah, BICEP, Cassian, and Mochakk.
