Italian festival forced to cancel after main stage collapses
Strong winds have toppled the main stage at Italian festival Alien Sound, forcing organizers to cancel and reschedule the event.
Following a main stage collapse during setup, Italian festival Alien Sound must unfortunately cancel its original weekend dates. Strong winds hit the site at the former NATO base in Bagnoli, Naples, bringing the metal structure down in seconds. Thankfully, no injuries resulted from the collapse. The area remained closed to the public when the accident happened.
Local footage circulating online shows the moment the stage gave way under gusty conditions. Authorities quickly moved in to inspect the scene and assess the damage. Officials later withdrew the event’s necessary authorization, citing safety concerns after the storm. Organizers stressed the decision was outside their control and made with public safety as the priority.
Rather than scattering the lineup, the team is consolidating the festival into a massive one-day festival on July 23. All current ticketholders will have valid access for the new date. Furthermore, those unable to attend can request refunds starting July 24. At present, Ozuna and Gordo will perform at the rescheduled show. Additionally, Anuel AA and Myke Towers are pending confirmation after earlier scheduling shifts.
Stage failures during severe weather are an unfortunate but known risk across festivals. Recent years have seen multiple incidents, from torrential downpours to high winds, that have damaged setups before crowds arrive. Safety protocols have tightened across the industry, with many events now adding airport-style screening and stricter load checks.

For ticket holders, the shift to a single-date format could mean a more high-energy night. Fans who bought passes for either day now get one bigger show instead. Nonetheless, those who prefer not to attend have a straightforward refund process ahead. Local social media posts from officials emphasized the fortunate timing of the collapse, noting that work had been suspended before anyone entered the venue.
While the original plans fell apart, this quick pivot aims to preserve the festival’s spirit. The rescheduled event will ensure locals and visitors a summer celebration in Bagnoli’s historic waterfront area. For last-minute tickets, check out Alien Sound’s official website.
