Solomun to open Pacha New York with free show after recent rain out in the Bronx

Solomun surprises NYC with a return for Pacha’s Opening, dedicated to the soaking fans in the last event

Solomun has never been known for breaking his own rules, which is exactly why his latest New York announcement has caught so many fans by surprise. The famous European DJ has confirmed a special return to the Big Apple on June 19th as one of the few artists to open Pacha New York, marking a rare trip in the middle of Ibiza season. Even more remarkably, he has chosen to perform free of charge for fans who stood by him through one of New York’s miserable MDW with a torrential downpour.

The decision stemmed from his recent marathon performances at Fulton Fish Market in the Bronx followed by an afterparty at Knockdown Center. During the outdoor event, relentless rain poured down for hours, yet thousands of attendees didn’t care. Soaked from head to toe despite wearing two ponchos, they continued dancing through the storm before many carried the energy straight into the afterparty. Apparently, New Yorkers have treated a downpour as nothing more than an extra lighting effect.

For Solomun, the experience has challenged a personal routine he has maintained for more than a decade. Once Ibiza season begins, he has traditionally stayed in Europe, avoiding long-haul flights and major international appearances. This personal policy has become a cornerstone of his summer schedule, helping him preserve the rhythm of his iconic residency. This year, however, his show in NYC accomplished what countless promoters could not think of: convincing him to make an exception.

Rather than turning the occasion into a standard ticketed event, access to the opening-night dancefloor has been reserved for attendees of the Fulton Fish Market show and Knockdown Center afterparty. Eligible fans have been offered entry through a registration lottery, ensuring everyone has received the same opportunity regardless of how fast they can refresh a ticketing page. In an era dominated by VIP upgrades and digital queues, the approach has felt refreshingly fair.

The event has also carried deeper significance for Solomun’s long-standing relationship with Pacha. Since launching his legendary Solomun +1 residency in Ibiza in 2013, he has become one of the brand’s defining artists. Opening Pacha New York expands that connection across the Atlantic while helping usher in a new era for one of New York City’s most anticipated nightlife destinations.

The appearance has arrived during a milestone year as Diynamic Music has celebrated its 20th anniversary alongside sold-out shows, major releases, and global performances. Yet this New York stop has stood apart from the rest. Not because of the venue or the production, but because thousands of rain-soaked fans have effectively convinced one of dance music’s busiest artists to cross the Atlantic. If that isn’t the ultimate New York success story, it’s hard to imagine what is.
