Shlømo speaks out about sexual assault after criminal complaint filed in Paris
The French techno DJ calls the accusations “completely fabricated” in a video statement, as advocacy group METOODJS confirms a complaint naming him over alleged rape, psychological violence and death threats.
French techno artist Shlømo, real name Shaun Baron-Carvais, is publicly denying allegations of sexual assault after a criminal complaint was filed against him before the Paris Judicial Court on Friday, June 5th 2026.
In a joint Instagram statement this week, advocacy group METOODJS and Paris Bar lawyer Maître Inès Davau said the complaint, submitted through Davau on behalf of a complainant, relates to “alleged acts of rape, psychological violence and death threats.” Davau confirmed to Resident Advisor that she represents the complainant. Importantly, at this stage the filing reflects allegations only: it is not a finding of wrongdoing, and doesn’t necessarily mean an investigation has been opened. “Through this legal action, the complainant asks for her voice to be heard,” the post read, “for the alleged facts to be examined by the competent authorities, and for the proceedings to follow their course within a legal framework.”

Shlømo has responded across his own channels. In a video posted to Instagram, he denied the accusations outright: “I have only had consensual relationships in my life, and with adults only,” he said. “This story was completely fabricated, with the purpose of harming me by instrumentalizing a cause that should not be, namely, violence against women.” He went on to condemn all forms of violence against women, acknowledged that DJs have “the responsibility to make the club a safe place,” and addressed an older, unrelated interview anecdote that he says he regrets and apologized for years ago.
In Instagram stories that appear to reference the complaint, he was more pointed: “I know what I’ve done and what I haven’t. I can’t wait for the legal process in order to expose the truth ASAP.”
For now, both sides are bracing for a fight, and until the courts weigh in, everything here remains an allegation: contested, unproven, and very public.
