PopUp Bagels announces Chris Lake as ‘Chief Hot Officer’

PopUp Bagels and Chris Lake are proving that the hottest collaborations can come from the most unexpected places.

PopUp Bagels has tapped Chris Lake as its new “Chief Hot Officer,” turning a New York bagel shop stop into an unexpected music-meets-food moment. The announcement came in a joint Instagram post from PopUp Bagels and TRUFF, the hot sauce brand known for its truffle-infused products. The caption introduced Lake with a playful title and invited fans to meet him at the Thompson Street location in Manhattan on Thursday, June 4.

The event will feature Lake acting as a guest “bagel bouncer,” greeting customers and adding a celebrity twist to the storefront experience. Guests who purchase a six-pack of bagels along with a TRUFF hot sauce schmear will be entered into a giveaway for a chance to win tickets to one of Lake’s upcoming Brooklyn shows scheduled for June 5, 6, or 7. Three winners will be randomly selected, with prizes available while supplies last.

The post emphasized that participation is limited and winners will be chosen at random, adding urgency to the promotion. The collaboration blends PopUp Bagels’ viral, limited-run business model with TRUFF’s upscale condiment branding and Lake’s global electronic music following.

Reactions on social media quickly picked up on the unusual pairing. One comment read, “The collab we didn’t know we needed,” while another simply called it “epic collab.” Atrak also chimed in, joking, “Chris I love you but this is wild bagel nonsense.

We gotta show you proper Montreal bagels with lox. Let me show you the way.” The playful exchange highlights how food brands and music artists are not as far apart as they may seem.

PopUp Bagels has built a reputation on limited drops and social media buzz, while TRUFF has leaned into bold partnerships and viral attention. By naming Chris Lake its “Chief Hot Officer,” the brand is embracing humor, exclusivity and celebrity crossovers.

I've been writing, covering events, and doing interviews with Exron for nearly four years, but have been an EDM-lover for over a decade. The music community and industry has a special place in my heart and I love exploring the depths. EDC Las Vegas is my favorite festival and this year will be my sixth time attending. Some other recent festivals I've been are Ultra, Elements, Lost Lands, Electric Forest, and Arc. I've been getting more into experimental bass, but techno and house will always have my heart. <3
