GRiZ is back on the grid with new album ‘Future Funk Volume 1’
GRiZ has never been more back, having released ‘Future Funk Volume 1’ just a day after announcing the impending album release on social media.
GRiZ is so back! Announcing ‘Future Funk Volume 1’ on June 4th and dropping the album just a day later on June 5th is a power move from the iconic and returning artist. Since returning in late 2025 with his inaugural Seven Stars Festival, GRiZ has put out 38 songs across originals, mixtapes, and collab tracks in just over a year, and this album is where all of that energy lands. Dubstep has never been hotter than it is right now thanks to GRiZ.
The highlight of the rollout is “Rump Shaker,” a collab with Big Gigantic that has been a long time coming. They last linked up on “Good Times Roll” which has more than 48 million streams on Spotify. Opening the album with a bang and heavy brass, groove-driven production. This high energy is what you can expect from Griz and friends throughout the full album.

The rest of the album pulls together pretty much everything GRiZ does well, from his sax-driven melodies and hip-hop influence to his bass and psychedelic feel. Together, letting his influences collide as one creates something that gets the juices flowing. Features include multiple appearances from ProbCause, a hot newcomer to the scene, and a collab with another fellow rising bass act, EFFIN, on “When I’m Hot.”
The release also comes at one of the biggest live moments of his career. His inaugural Seven Stars Festival sold out immediately and drew over 22,000 fans to Virginia. He has headlined sold-out arenas in Chicago and the Bay Area, played a surprise Do LaB set at Coachella, and has Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, and Elements still ahead of him this year.
