Of The Trees debuts his Park Service show series in Chicago

Of The Trees fans have patiently anticipated what some are calling the “tour of the summer”, with his new show series, Park Service, debuting at The Salt Shed in Chicago.

Of The Trees has been unstoppable since debuting his very own festival last summer, Camp Alderwild, though his real fans know the momentum started long before that. His success in event curation ultimately paved the way for his current show series, Park Service. The original Park Service show announcement included tour dates in Chicago, NYC, and Washington, D.C.; however, online conversations suggest that more tour dates are to come.

Of The Trees chose a talented group of artists to set the stage before him, with Snuffy, Chmura, and Jade Cicada scheduled as the openers. Their sets added unique flavors of dubstep, downtempo bass, and wonky sounds sculpted for those with wondrous souls, the perfect soundtrack for an immersive show experience.

The Salt Shed’s outdoor venue was the perfect choice for premiering this mossy music wonderland, neatly snuggled alongside the Chicago Riverfront with a fresh breeze rolling off the water and adventurous kayakers paddling by. Some may say they had the best seats of the night, but we found ourselves in the crowd, swaying to the sweet sounds of bass. The venue encompassed the themes of nature in relation to Of The Tree’s latest album, Moodglade Park.

There were elevated viewing areas for GA and VIP guests, with options for all the bleacher creatures, flow-art fairies, and dance-floor divas to move around the venue in harmony. The crowd was friendly and welcoming, with people generously making room as we worked our way to the front and spent some time on the rail. While walking up during Of The Tree’s set, one of my favorite tracks began to play, Wind Horse.

As I reached the front of the crowd, securing a front-row spot, I noticed the beautifully decorated stage, flowing with moss so surreal it looked like it came straight from The Spirit of The Suwannee (IYKYK). Throughout his set, Of The Trees played several tracks off Moonglade Park, as well as a ton of never-before-heard tracks. We loved closing out the night with some of his older bangers and jammed our hearts out to a few unreleased IDs.

Of The Trees uses his platform to discuss the importance of observing, experiencing, and caring for our environments. He expresses his deep love for observation and nature through his curated events, including guided walks in city green spaces an hour before the events. His Chicago walk took place at Grant Park, welcoming fans to take part in the spectacle of the great outdoors. Chicago’s show sold out, so it’s no surprise that tickets for D.C. and Brooklyn are running low. Lock in yours now or forever hold your peace. This show is a journey unlike any other, and we would NOT recommend missing out.
