Inside Jamie Jones’ near 30-year career in dance music

Three decades, three islands, countless afterparties, Jamie Jones reminisces on his career journey as a raver in Ibiza to expanding his Paradise residencies all over.

For nearly three decades, Jamie Jones has helped shape the sound and spirit of modern dance music. Much of that journey has remained deeply tied to Ibiza. From his raver days in the early 2000s to headlining some of the island’s most famous parties, Jones reflects on a career that has changed alongside Ibiza’s nightlife culture. Somewhere between sunrise afterparties and missed flights, Paradise was born.

Jones remembers arriving in Ibiza for his first full season as a partygoer in 2000, long before he became one of house music’s current defining figures. Those early summers introduced him to the island’s unique mix of freedom, music, and organized chaos. These experiences later influenced his sound and how he built communities on the dancefloor. Like many Ibiza veterans, he has probably also survived at least one breakfast that accidentally turned into a 14-hour party.

By 2009, Jamie Jones had begun establishing himself as a resident DJ through appearances at Music Box and the legendary DC10 alongside CircoLoco. Just a few years later, he launched Paradise, initially taking over Thursdays in DC10’s smaller club room. At the time, he admitted he had no idea how big the concept would grow.

The residency quickly exploded in popularity, eventually expanding across the terrace. It became known for marathon afterparties, elaborate themes, and unforgettable Boiler Room sessions overlooking Es Vedrà. Over the years, Paradise built a reputation that reached far beyond Ibiza itself. It blended underground house music with theatrical production and a strong sense of escapism, giving the backstage airstream trailer into its own mini civilization.

After eight seasons at DC10, Jones moved Paradise to Amnesia Ibiza in 2022, following pandemic delays. There, the production transformed into something more immersive, introducing dancers, extravagant costumes, and towering 3D-printed statues that became signature visual features of the experience. Paradise clearly upgraded from “party” to a “slightly unhinged theatrical universe.”

Now entering a new chapter, Paradise has moved into UNVRS for 2025 and beyond. The Paradise DJ continues to redefine Ibiza nightlife nearly 30 years after first arriving on the island, sharing with fans his story on how dance music careers can evolve far beyond DJ booths, especially when driven by vision, community, and an almost supernatural ability to function without sleep.
