Matt from Meduza offers apology and explanation for recent disappearance

Matt from Meduza shares an emotional explanation for stepping away from touring and social media

Mattia Vitale, known as Matt from Meduza, publicly shared an emotional apology on social media regarding his absence from the electronic music scene over the last several months. The producer opened up about stepping away from both social media and the nonstop pace of touring to reconnect with himself and focus on his health and creativity again.

In the post, Matt took accountability for disappearing from friends, collaborators, and fans, admitting that during his time away, he only communicated when necessary and often failed to respond altogether. He explained that he needed time to “live normally again,” regain personal space, and spend meaningful time in the studio creating music, something he said had been missing from his life for a long time.

He also revealed that he had been dealing with health issues while continuing to work and travel, but never truly allowed himself the opportunity to fully stop, rest, and properly recover. Taking time away ultimately gave him the chance to reset both mentally and physically.

Now, Matt says he’s entering a new chapter.

“Now I’m back. I’m ready,” he shared.

The producer explained that fans can expect a wave of new music alongside a renewed excitement for performing again. He shared that he’s finally in a place where he genuinely misses traveling, playing shows, and reconnecting with the people he’s met around the world throughout his career. Matt specifically thanked fans, friends, promoters, and colleagues for their patience and understanding during his disappearance. He ended the message with the hopeful statement: “See you around the world soon.”

The Instagram carousel accompanying the post offered a more personal glimpse into what his life has looked like over the last several months. One photo showed Matt getting the word “M.INIM.A.L” tattooed. Other images captured quieter moments at home with his dog, time spent in the studio, and moments with friends and collaborators. One photo featured him alongside RÜFÜS DU SOL members Jon George and James Hunt, while another showed Khalid singing in the studio.

Matt’s vulnerability resonated deeply across the electronic music community. Jackie Hollander commented, “so important,” while Kevin de Vries wrote, “we will always wait for you brother. can’t wait to show the world the music we’ve been working on.” Fans also flooded the comments with support, with one writing, “don’t apologize Matt! take care of yourself love you!”

The overwhelming response serves as a reminder that rest, healing, and resetting should not be viewed negatively within the music industry. For artists constantly navigating demanding travel schedules, public pressure, and nonstop output, stepping away can be an essential part of maintaining both personal well-being and long-term creative success.
