Desert Hearts release first EP following Porky’s departure

Desert Hearts reintroduce themselves with a new collaborative debut EP, ‘California.’

Desert Hearts have stepped into a new era with the release of their first EP following member Porky’s departure for a solo career. This debut EP is a chance for Desert Hearts to reintroduce themselves as a unified artists project between founders Mikey Lion, Marbs, and Lee Reynolds. With the new EP also comes the announcement of a new label deal with EMPIRE dance.

The Southern California-born collective has just released a two-track EP, which marks a new beginning for the trio, who will be carrying on the Desert Hearts legacy through productions and touring. Desert Hearts has long been known as a label and festival, and has collected a global community, but for the first time, the artists behind the collective are bringing this same framework when creating a debut artist identity.

The EP is made from two foundational tracks called “California” and “Dancing Feet.” Both tracks capture the dynamic of Desert Hearts since its inception in November 2012, after hosting a small, 200-person event in the Mojave Desert. Motivation of love and showcasing of house and techno artists have been the core of Desert Hearts for over a decade.

Their mission as a “one stage, one vibe” festival is centralized by continuity with uninterrupted programming and extended sets that extend all weekend long. What emerged from this concept for a non-stop party resulted in a unified sound that continues to shape the loyal, ever-growing community that is core to the collective’s success in hosting hundreds of events, international touring, and a vast catalog of releases.

Mikey Lion, Marbs, and Lee Reynolds are evolving the Desert Hearts legacy with a new EP produced by all three founding artists. This project is a full-circle moment, distilling the energy of their community into a singular sound.

It’s their first release to truly cement the Desert Hearts identity, bridging the gap between their legendary dancefloor energy and their recorded discography.

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists include Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Gorgon City, Prospa :)
