Anyma closes Coachella’s DoLab stage after ‘devastating’ Friday cancellation

Anyma redeemed Friday’s wind-hit main stage cancellation with a b2b Do LaB shutdown alongside Marlon Hoffstadt.

Following a last-minute cancellation, Anyma salvaged his Coachella weekend by joining Marlon Hoffstadt B2B to close the DoLab. His Friday headline on the main stage fell victim to winds gusting up to 45 mph, but the pivot kept the energy alive.

Organizers canceled Anyma’s ÆDEN show just past midnight on April 10, citing safety risks to the stage build and live setup. Anyma would have performed just after Sabrina Carpenter and was eager to showcase his project. However, the Coachella app released an update at 12:17 a.m., as campground tents flipped like pancakes in the chaos. The push-notification statement noted that the decision came jointly with Anyma’s team amid harsh conditions.

On Instagram, Matteo Milleri (Anyma’s real name) posted that he was “heartbroken.” This is especially true after a year of nonstop work by his crew and festival staff. He mentioned exploring options to share some music without disrupting others, though nothing materialized for Weekend 1.

Nonetheless, Do LaB announced a surprise via Instagram: Anyma b2b Hoffstadt starting at 10:45 p.m on Sunday. They ran through to midnight, with Blackpink’s LISA jumping on for “Bad Angel,” their recent collab. The track layers LISA’s vocals over Anyma’s signature melodic techno drive, undoubtedly making for an emotive experience. Clips circulating online capture the stage’s haze and packed crowd riding the peak-time rush, but no official stream this year.

One half of Tale of Us, Milleri launched his Anyma project to blend immersive visuals with club-rooted techno. He has hit DJ Mag Top 10 (2025), played the Pyramids of Giza, and synced sets to Vetements’ Paris shows plus League of Legends Worlds. Last December’s deluxe edition of ‘The End Of Genesys‘ added tracks like “Out Of My Body” with EJAE.

While the cancellation was disappointing to all involved, Anyma sparked hope for new surprises with his DoLab appearance. The ÆDEN tour rolls on globally, leading into his residency at [UNVRS] Ibiza this summer. Unquestionably, he’ll retry the main stage this Friday, April 17, for Weekend 2. Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 12 consecutive years (still counting). As an avid traveler, I'm definitely not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My current bucket list festivals right now are Tomorrowland in Belgium, Cercle Festival in France, Kappa Futur in Italy, and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists are Franky Wah, BICEP, Cassian, and Mochakk.
