Fisher’s Out 2 Lunch Festival postponed due to ‘major disruptions’ in Australia

Fisher has postponed his yearly Out 2 Lunch Festival to 2027 amid a diesel crisis in Australia and across the world.

Promoters TEG Live have announced the full postponement of Fisher‘s Out 2 Lunch national tour to 2027. The cited “major disruptions” caused by the country’s diesel crisis and cost-of-living pressures. The ambitious four-date run planned its original start date as May 2 at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse. Thereafter, it would hit the Gold Coast, Sydney, and Perth. Spotlight acts would include Gorgon City, Skream, and Azzecca, as well as Australian stars such as Hayden James and Shimmy.

The Sydney native turned global house heavyweight launched Out 2 Lunch in 2024 as Australia’s largest beachfront electronic music event. Held at Coolangatta Beach, it drew 30,000 attendees and generated around $50 million for the Gold Coast economy, featuring acts like Vintage Culture. The 2025 edition expanded to two days at Broadwater Parklands, with Fisher headlining alongside Chris Lake and Patrick Topping, boosting local revenue by $54 million.

Australia relies on imports for 90% of its fuel, and disruptions linked to the Iran War have halted shipments through May, jacking up logistics costs for transport and production. It is a grim trend in the festival scene — Bluesfest 2026 also canceled last month for similar reasons. Others have folded due to soft ticket sales.

Fisher voiced his frustration directly, noting that he “tried everything, but… had to postpone.” Furthermore, TEG’s Tim McGregor emphasized that the call prioritizes reliability amid broader challenges. Organizers have already confirmed that ticket refunds and transfers to 2027 dates will be available soon.

Fisher’s career trajectory underscores his resilience: from early days in the Cut Snake duo to his 2018 breakout “Losing It,” which earned a Grammy nomination and topped Beatport charts. By 2025, he ranked No. 7 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs. The decision reflects tough realities in the Australian festival scene, but it positions Out 2 Lunch Festival for a stronger return. Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 12 consecutive years (still counting). As an avid traveler, I'm definitely not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My current bucket list festivals right now are Tomorrowland in Belgium, Cercle Festival in France, Kappa Futur in Italy, and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists are Franky Wah, BICEP, Cassian, and Mochakk.
