A Full-Circle Moment for Two Artists Who Grew Alongside Each Other.

Player Dave and Shai announced their engagement on social media on Monday, April 6th, 2026. The two have become a recognizable power couple within the electronic music scene. They’ve shared that they’ve been in each other’s lives for seven years and have been publicly sharing their relationship since 2023.

It’s known that the two started as friends, and over time, that connection naturally evolved into something more. In the proposal video, Shai is midway through her makeup routine when Dave calls her to come watch the sunset, a simple moment that quickly turns into something much bigger as he gets down on one knee.

I commented on her TikTok video, “I love how simple and organic this proposal is… congrats!” and Shai responded, “that’s all I asked for!!!!” a small but telling moment that reflects the tone of their relationship.

Shailee Ben-David, also known by her alias “Archangel,” began her career in the music industry as an intern with Skrillex’s label OWSLA. She has since been part of the curation team for III Points Festival and has worked in festival production. She was also a core part of John Summit’s team, playing a key role in shaping the visual and cultural identity of his Experts Only brand during its rise. She is now part of Illenium’s team, contributing to brand direction and media.

Player Dave, real name Charlie Sahm, was classically trained in piano, violin, cello, and drums, and has been active in the electronic scene since 2016. He’s known for being genre-fluid, blending elements of bass, garage, and melodic electronic into a sound that feels both emotional and multidimensional. He most recently released his ‘Heartbeat’ EP in 2025 and is also the founder of Daisy Chain, a party series that has grown into a label and community.

What makes their relationship stand out is how both of them have built respected careers independently, while continuously supporting each other along the way. Shai has carved out her space in creative direction, artist branding, and festival curation, while Player Dave has developed a distinct artistic identity and community through his music.
