Everything we know about the legal battle between Teksupport co-founders

The co-founders of Teksupport have landed in a messy legal battle over control, trust, and the company’s future.

New York’s Teksupport is facing a bruising legal battle behind the booth. Rob Toma and Mike Vitacco co-founded TCE Presents, the parent company that powers Teksupport. Toma and Vitacco are now suing each other in New Jersey court over control of the company. The dispute has already produced a temporary restraining order and a court-ordered push toward mediation.

Toma sued first in February. He claims Vitacco conspired with the company’s longtime lawyer to seize control of TCE. He also alleges that ownership interests were secretly transferred to Vitacco’s mother, and that the relationship between the co-founders has fallen apart beyond repair.

In court filings, Toma alleges Vitacco worked with the company’s longtime lawyer to push him out and secretly move ownership interests. Meanwhile, Vitacco says Toma tried to consolidate power and steer business away from TCE. Both men want a judge to declare one of them the sole owner, and each is seeking damages for claims including breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, breach of contract, and the misuse of company assets.

Both men asked the court to freeze the other’s role in company management. Vitacco won the first round. A judge issued a temporary restraining order against Toma in early March. Furthermore, on March 25, the court extended that order and rejected Toma’s request for similar protection.

The judge also ordered mediation within a month. That gives both sides a chance to settle before the case heads toward trial. In the meantime, this conflict threatens one of New York dance music’s best-known brands. For more information on Teksupport, visit their Instagram page.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 12 consecutive years (still counting). As an avid traveler, I'm definitely not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My current bucket list festivals right now are Tomorrowland in Belgium, Cercle Festival in France, Kappa Futur in Italy, and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists are Franky Wah, BICEP, Cassian, and Mochakk.
