Griz raises 137k for families affected by ICE in 2 days

With ICE enforcement creating ongoing strain in Minneapolis, GRiZ raises money through his shows to support local relief efforts.

GRiZ raised $137,000 over two days during a recent stop in Minneapolis, directing 100% of merchandise proceeds to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a local nonprofit supporting families affected by immigration enforcement (ICE). The fundraising effort took place alongside his scheduled performances, with fans purchasing tour merchandise that directly funded rent assistance, groceries and transportation for residents facing sudden financial strain.

The organization focuses on rapid-response aid, helping families cover essential costs during periods of instability. The donation comes as Minneapolis has experienced an increase in immigration enforcement activity in recent months. Reports from community groups and local officials indicate a rise in ICE operations across parts of the Twin Cities, contributing to heightened concern among immigrant families.

Advocates say the enforcement has led some residents to limit travel, miss work or keep children home from school out of fear of detention. Community groups have worked to respond as needs increase, with many relying heavily on donations to continue providing basic support.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors has been among those distributing assistance, focusing on immediate expenses such as housing and food. The funds raised through GRiZ’s shows are expected to go directly toward those efforts, offering financial relief to families affected by recent enforcement activity, and will be used to address urgent needs as they arise.

Videos have circulated about Griz’s charity act on social media and many people in the comments are thrilled over the news. One person wrote, “Who else has more respect for GRiZ for this?”

Others chimed in with similar enthusiasm, with comments like “Oh we LOVEEE Griz” and “Griz is and always has been the GOAT.” Lastly, someone affirmed that he “has always been for the people.”

I've been writing, covering events, and doing interviews with Exron for nearly four years, but have been an EDM-lover for over a decade. The music community and industry has a special place in my heart and I love exploring the depths. EDC Las Vegas is my favorite festival and this year will be my sixth time attending. Some other recent festivals I've been are Ultra, Elements, Lost Lands, Electric Forest, and Arc. I've been getting more into experimental bass, but techno and house will always have my heart. <3
