Enrico Sangiuliano closes NINETOZERO label with final EP

Enrico Sangiuliano closes his countdown imprint with ‘Absence’, a mind-bending final EP that turns NINETOZERO’s self-destruct into art.

Italian techno tastemaker Enrico Sangiuliano is preparing to shut the doors on his beloved NINETOZERO imprint. In commemoration, he will release the concept-heavy EP ‘Absence,’ on March 19 on vinyl and digital formats. The record brings his countdown label to its programmed “zero” point, activating the self-destruct mechanism that lies within the project’s very name.

Launched as a finite, narrative-driven outlet, NINETOZERO has traced a backwards journey through Sangiuliano’s ideas about sound, time, and perception. He has used techno as a framework for philosophical questions, delivering peak-time weapons while deliberately challenging how and why we listen.

At the center of the EP sits “Step Into The End,” a ten-minute, full auditory statement. The track embodies Sanguiliano’s sentiment of going “back to the womb of nothingness… charged with the echo of everything we have experienced.” Undoubtedly, this streamlined digital edit offers a concentrated version for DJs who want the same tension in a tighter window.

The title track “Absence” pushes furthest into conceptual territory, constructed from the near-silence and ambient noise of Sangiuliano’s own studio, captured so closely that his breathing subtly inhabits the recording. Rather than offering a conventional arrangement, it hands the responsibility back to the listener. Finally, “The Aftermath” is a brief but intimate track that leaves a deliberate question mark over what emerges after zero.

Sangiuliano’s decision to build a self-erasing label is very much in character for the artist. Unquestionably, he has consistently walked the line between introspective experimentation and mainstage impact. With “Absence,” he doesn’t just close a catalog; he turns that closure itself into the project’s final, resonant idea. About The Author

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 12 consecutive years (still counting). As an avid traveler, I'm definitely not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My current bucket list festivals right now are Tomorrowland in Belgium, Cercle Festival in France, Kappa Futur in Italy, and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists are Franky Wah, BICEP, Cassian, and Mochakk.
