Chris Avantgarde welcomes first child with wife Lydia Vornweg

Chris Avantgarde begins new chapter after welcoming daughter Gia ahead of spring tour and Miami Music Week appearance

Christian Vornweg, otherwise known on stage as Chris Avantgarde, and his wife Lydia have recently welcomed their daughter, Gia. The melodic techno artist shared the milestone after a transformative year both personally and professionally.

Back in December, Avantgarde announced he would be stepping back from touring as he and his wife prepared for the arrival of their first child. Reflecting on 2025 at the time, he described the year as one filled with unforgettable moments, which surely required a demanding schedule before turning his attention toward family life.

Lydia, a podcast host known for her show The Weird Years, has documented the experience of early parenthood with striking honesty. Her podcast explores the messy realities of life decisions, relationships, identity, and career. Following the birth of their daughter, she opened up about the early weeks of becoming a new mother.

“Honestly, like I’ve never felt even more in love with Chris than I do now because he steps up repeatedly every single time and does not miss,” Lydia expressed her appreciation towards her husband. She also noted that he is very proactive, which surely is a great attribute to have in a partner.

The couple’s first weeks of parenthood have already been eventful, including an unexpected return to the hospital shortly after bringing their daughter home to ensure both mom and baby were healthy in the early days. Through it all, they have shared parts of the journey with refreshing openness.

As Avantgarde settles into life as a new father, fans will soon see him return to the stage. His upcoming spring run begins March 7th at Drumsheds in London before heading stateside for Miami Music Week, including a highly anticipated Factory Town appearance. The tour will continue through major cities like Toronto and Los Angeles before heading back to Europe with a stop in Spain and additional dates expected to follow.

My name is Alejandra Benitez and I was born and raised in the DMV. Having close proximity to Washington D.C. means I am accustomed to a fast paced environment as things are constantly changing. For me, the EDM scene has provided so much comfort and space to really find myself even amongst chaos. My first ever show was Zeds Dead and it truly changed my outlook on community and further affirmed my love for music. I am a basshead at heart but enjoy exploring new genres and artists. Being a writer for Exron has given me an amazing opportunity to learn more about the electronic music industry and I love being able to express myself creatively. Some of my favorite artists include Levity, Rezz, Tape B, Disco Lines, and Sub Focus.
