NYLON launches new top 100 DJ list to be judged by an expert panel
NYLON has launched its first expert-judged Top 100 DJ list, highlighting the artists shaping the future of dance music and nightlife culture.
NYLON is getting deeper into dance music with the launch of the NYLON House Dance 100, a new yearly list highlighting the DJs making the biggest impact in the scene. The first edition will drop on March 19 and will focus on the artists shaping today’s dance floors.
The list is tied to NYLON House, the brand’s newer section focused on dance music and nightlife. The platform launched late last year with events featuring artists like Adriatique and SOFI TUKKER. Now the Dance 100 is set to become its biggest editorial moment so far.
Instead of fan voting, NYLON asked industry insiders to help decide the rankings. Promoters, label executives, managers, and media voices from around the world were invited to take part. In total, more than 60 judges helped score the final list.
Each DJ was rated from one to ten across six categories that reflect how artists are actually performing in today’s scene. Judges looked at things like streaming presence, touring activity, cultural buzz, fan engagement, creativity, and respect from other artists. The idea was to combine numbers with real experience from people in the industry.
The list is meant to capture what’s happening in dance music right now. Judges focused on recent momentum and on artists currently making waves. They were also able to nominate DJs they felt deserved more attention.
NYLON also wants the process to stay open and fair. The publication will share the names of the judges who helped build the list and limited it to one judge per company. As NYLON House continues to grow, the goal is to bring in even more voices from across the global dance scene.
