Dance music artists who have left the Wasserman Agency amid Epstein files scrutiny

Wasserman is facing a major exodus of dance artists after its founder, Casey Wasserman, was repeatedly identified in the Epstein Files.

The dance music world is having its accountability moment, and it’s getting louder by the day. Following renewed scrutiny tied to the Epstein files and reported email exchanges involving Wasserman founder Casey Wasserman, artists across the agency’s music division have distanced themselves, and the dance scene has not stayed silent.

Salute was among the first in the dance lane to speak publicly, stating that he was actively seeking to leave Wasserman and encouraging fellow roster artists to have serious conversations with their teams. The message from Salute was simply that this isn’t business as usual; it’s moral values over convenience.

Lane 8 has also been reported among the electronic artists exiting the agency, while Subtronics’ name circulated heavily in the wave of departures as Wasserman quietly removed its entire artist roster from public view. Others rumored to have departed, or to be considering departure, include Odesza, Levity, Rezz, Zeds Dead, Liquid Stranger, Above & Beyond, and Alleycvt. When a booking giant such as Wasserman scrubs its talent page overnight, the industry takes notice.

John Summit added fuel to the moment, reportedly threatening to leave as backlash mounted. As a vocal social media user, he carries real-world weight. Some artist exits have come via official statements, while others have come through roster shifts and behind-the-scenes confirmations from various artists’ teams. The tone across dance music feels unified, and that dance artists are paying attention.

Thankfully, various artists responded as expected to this community built on connection, freedom, and collective energy. However, music has a brief memory, as there are cases of assault in the scene‌, and sometimes it seems the fans have a longer memory of poor behavior. Right now, the scene is watching closely to see who stands where when the lights come back on, and who keeps this energy up in the future, ideally making dance a safe scene for all.
