John Summit announces sophomore album ‘CTRL ESCAPE’

From Accountant to Global Headliner: ‘CTRL ESCAPE’ Chronicles John Summit’s Journey to Freedom and Reinvention.

John Summit officially announced his second album, ‘CTRL ESCAPE,’ set for release on April 15 via Experts Only/Darkroom Records. The project represents a story of transformation and reclaimed purpose. Summit has been one of the most talked-about DJs of the last several years, continuing to break records while making his name known globally across the electronic dance music community.

Tracks that helped put him on the map before he became a global headliner include “Deep End” (2020), “Human” (2021), which hinted at his emotional depth, and “Where Are You,” which launched him into mainstream electronic success. He released his first full-length album, ‘Comfort in Chaos,’ in July 2024, marking his evolution from DJ to producer and storyteller.

Summit isn’t afraid to try something new, and that willingness to take risks is a major reason behind his success. He sees failure as an opportunity for growth. Fans hear that in his music and give him the creative freedom to experiment, which has naturally expanded his fanbase into a large and diverse community of listeners.

Followers have recently watched Summit dedicate time in Los Angeles working on this album, even asking fans on Instagram which artists he should collaborate with. He’s the kind of artist who genuinely values audience input, inviting listeners into the creative process. That openness deepens the bond with fans. They feel like they’re part of the album’s journey.

“LIGHTS GO OUT” offered the first taste of ‘CTRL ESCAPE.’ Before John Summit, he was a regular working-class guy, an accountant with a dream of becoming a DJ. This album sonically captures that evolution and the contrast between two lives. “Lights Go Out” channels both power and vulnerability, reflecting the clash between 9–5 monotony and the electric energy of the rave. The music represents release, freedom, and belonging qualities that resonate deeply with Summit’s fanbase. When people attend his shows, they’re searching for that feeling.

‘CTRL ESCAPE’ showcases Summit continuing to push boundaries while exploring a wider range of genres. Teaser videos already feature collaborations with artists like Feid and Julia Wolf. To build momentum, Summit will release a new single every other Wednesday leading up to the album’s full drop on Tax Day, April 15, a fitting theme for the project.

Alongside the release of his sophomore album, Summit has a packed 2026 ahead, including his debut Experts Only Ibiza residency on Mondays at UNVRS. He’s also hosting Experts Only Ski Weekenders in Whistler and Vail, closing Ultra Music Festival’s mainstage during Miami Music Week, and appearing at Ultra South Africa, EDC Mexico, and Tomorrowland. He’s also confirmed to host the return of Experts Only Festival following its sold-out 2025 debut.

It might feel like the peak of his career, but Summit continues to exceed expectations year after year, proving that this is only another chapter in an ever-expanding rise.
