Backline launches 24/7 mental health support line B-LINE for the music industry
Backline’s new confidential mental health support line is exactly what the music industry needs.
The music industry runs on passion. From the outside, it might look like a glamorous lifestyle filled with world tours, exclusive events, champagne, and constant success. The industry constantly pushes the facade that everything is always seamless and beautiful.
But, in reality, these lifestyles are run entirely on late nights, tight turnarounds, emotional labor, and intense, relentless pressure. Behind the scenes, the seamlessly run events aren’t always as alluring because they are often sustained by burnout. Those who work in the industry are always running on empty. Backline’s newest initiative, B-LINE, is essential for this exact reason.

On January 27, Backline officially launched B-LINE, the first 24/7 mental health and crisis support line for the music industry. Now, care is accessible day or night for those struggling with their mental health, by calling 1-855-BLINE99 or texting 254-639. B-LINE offers immediate and confidential care to artists, crews, executives, and even their family members. In just its first week following its launch, over 80 people have already reached out for support.
B-LINE connects callers with trained counselors who understand the realities of working in the industry. They specialize in care for those struggling with touring exhaustion, financial instability, creative pressure, and emotional distress that comes with building a career in an incredibly competitive and taxing environment.

To celebrate its launch, Backline organized a star-studded night with appearances from Cautious Clay, Joy Oladokun, and a closing DJ set by Questlove. A hero video featuring Noah Kahan and other artists debuted that night, reinforcing what B-LINE represents: care created by and for the community.
Working in the music industry is enormously rewarding and beautiful, but many experience the toll of its demanding nature. Backline is helping to start the conversation surrounding this taboo subject and is actively building something the industry has needed for a long time.
For those reading this who might be feeling overwhelmed or know of someone in the industry who might need help, help is available right now. Call 1-855-BLINE99 or text 254-639.
