Winter storms cause EDM show cancellations across the country
Winter storms disrupt the EDM industry as the Northeast braces for unprecedented blizzards.
A powerful winter storm system sweeping across large parts of the United States has forced widespread disruptions to the electronic music landscape, with venues, promoters, and artists prioritizing safety amid hazardous travel conditions. From the Northeast to the Midwest and down through the South, multiple EDM shows have been postponed or rescheduled as icy roads, flight cancellations, and severe weather advisories ripple across touring routes.
In New York City, Webster Hall announced the postponement of its late-night showcase with WonkyWilla, originally slated for this week. The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 9th, 2026, with all previously purchased tickets remaining valid. Both the venue and artist emphasized that the decision was driven by fan safety, following an influx of messages from attendees unable to travel due to the storm. While disappointing, the move ensures that the high-energy 360-degree late set can be experienced under safer conditions.
The Midwest has seen similar impacts. Artist Maddy O’Neal shared an emotional update confirming the postponement of her Kansas City and Louisville tour stops, citing severe weather and travel disruptions. The shows have been rescheduled for June 6th in Kansas City and May 29th in Louisville, respectively, with tickets honored for the new dates. Her announcement echoed a sentiment shared widely across the scene this weekend: waiting it out and making the hard call was the only responsible option.
Additional disruptions have been reported nationwide. Brainrack and Shizzlo rescheduled their Baltimore January 23rd show, and Virginia Beach January 24th dates to March 6th and 7th, 2026, due to projected travel hazards. In Houston, Warehouse Live postponed all weekend events, including the highly anticipated Rave Like It’s 2026, with new dates still to be announced. Atlanta was also hit, as Torch DNB pushed its January 24th show to January 31st, while The Psycodelics rescheduled their Aisle 5 performance to February 5th, 2026.
While winter storms may be unavoidable, the unified response from the EDM community highlights a shared commitment to safety over spectacle. As warmer dates replace frozen calendars, fans can look forward to returning to dance floors when conditions and the vibes are right.
