Amelie Lens opens up about balancing motherhood and life as a touring DJ

Amelie Lens proves that motherhood and a love for techno can exist in the same heartbeat.

In a heartfelt Instagram post shared this week, Amelie Lens, Belgian techno queen, opened up about navigating motherhood while balancing a touring career. Lens admitted that she thought she would eventually have to choose between her music and becoming a mother.

“A few years ago, I never imagined I could have this career and be a mother at the same time,” wrote Lens. “I like to do everything perfectly and with full focus… so I thought I would have to choose one or the other.” She quickly realized she can in fact, have it all when she returned to her hotel room after a recent show to find her sleeping baby girl and husband. The moment she shared, left her overwhelmed with gratitude.

Amelie Lens‘ post shows her life perspective shift after a deeply personal chapter for her and her family. In 2025, her husband and fellow DJ Farrago stepped away from full-time touring following the birth of their daughter. Farrago chose to focus on his family, and Lens herself has been candid about the chaos of headlining major festivals while entering motherhood.

Lens remains outspoken about her personal life, shedding light on the real and sometimes abundantly difficult moments in the spotlight. She previously opened up about experiencing a miscarriage, sharing the unimaginable pain of losing a child, and how she ultimately found peace and healing through the power of music. “Before Kiki, I miscarried on a flight to India. I went to 2 hospitals in Delhi and still played my show that night on painkillers,” said Lens.

Amelie Lens is a once-in-a-generation techno dynamo and an inspirational figure in EDM. She continues to headline major festivals in 2026 like CRSSD San Diego, Empire Music Festival, and Tomorrowland, while also propelling the careers of emerging artists through her Exhale platform. Lens has also recently made history as the first DJ to lead Vogue Netherlands’ inaugural Music issue.

In a male-dominated industry, Amelie Lens is the voice that is reshaping the narrative. She is defining success and proving that techno and love can coexist.
