Jauz mourns loss of dog Bailey in heartfelt post
Fans rally around Jauz after emotional tribute to his dog Bailey, highlighting the bond between artists and their pets.
American DJ and producer Jauz, known offstage as Samuel Reed Vogel, recently shared a heartbreakingly beautiful tribute to his beloved dog, Bailey. He shared the story of how he came across this dog and what she meant to him and his family. Initially intended to be a two-week fostering trial, it turned into an instant love and connection.
The way he wrote about Bailey felt familiar to anyone who’s ever opened their home to a pet. He shared that Bailey wasn’t just his dog, but the big sister to his children, watching them grow and becoming part of their routines.
In the Instagram post, Jauz included personal photos, including one of Bailey and his wife Joann on stage with him. He also showed off the tattoo he got of Bailey, a small but permanent reminder that she is still with him in some way.
Fans quickly filled the comments with condolences, stories about their own pets, and short messages. It didn’t just come across like fans messaging an artist, but like strangers recognizing the same kind of grief. He thanked Bailey for being there through every major part of his life and lovingly called her Bubba.
Jauz occasionally shares small parts of his family life throughout his career. It is not something every artist does, but it has become more common to see artists highlight the animals they love. Subtronics and Level Up, for example, often include their dog Ellie in content and visuals, which shows how intertwined these relationships can be in the touring world. It is simply another reminder that pets are part of the story, both on and off the road.
His tour, which kicked off in Hawaii in November, resumes in 2026 with shows in Sunnyvale, Calgary, Charlotte and more before making a stop in Denver in March. Tickets are currently on sale online.
