ZHU announces forthcoming album ‘BLACK MIDAS’
ZHU has stepped back into the shadows with BLACK MIDAS, a club-focused new album era ignited by its dark, magnetic title track.
GRAMMY-nominated shapeshifter ZHU has returned with his newly announced album BLACK MIDAS, arriving March 20, 2026. The title track dropped on January 16, signaling a full-circle return to late-night club culture and the producer’s shadowy roots. “Black Midas” drops like a warning flare for the album’s direction: big-room scale, but with after-hours warehouse energy. The track leans into brooding, techno-driven drums, anchored by ZHU’s signature, sultry vocals built for smoky rooms.
To frame the project, ZHU shot a moody short film with director Luke Jaden in Istanbul. The film seamlessly pairs ZHU’s single with a narrative about fate, risk, and transformation. Furthermore, the ten-minute visual follows ZHU visiting a fortune teller as he steps into this new creative phase.

Throughout 2025, ZHU threaded BLACKLIZT-branded sets through some of the most talked-about lineups in clubland. These include Bogotá with Mathame as well as a high-voltage link-up with deadmau5 on Coachella’s Quasar stage. Pop-up plays after Bonnaroo’s weather shutdown, a stormy night at Brooklyn Storehouse, and countless festival slots all helped hardwire this new chapter to the dancefloor.
The club campaign stretched worldwide, including a BLACKLIZT takeover at Istanbul’s Volkswagen Arena and a turn at London’s cavernous Drumsheds. cementing ZHU’s connection to both underground heads and mainstage crowds. In 2026, he will keep things DJ-focused with select dates, including Sundance and a high-profile return to Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
BLACK MIDAS marks the next move in a decade-long run that started with “Faded.” This iconic track blew up in 2014 and went on to earn a GRAMMY nod for Best Dance Recording. His debut album GENERATIONWHY topped Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart. His many other projects, including introspective film-album GRACE, showcased a restless cinematic approach that blurred genre lines.
For fans who discovered ZHU in packed rooms and on dark festival stages, BLACK MIDAS feels less like a pivot and more like a homecoming—and the title track is just the first glimpse. Pre-saves for the album are live now for those ready to follow him back into the shadows.
