Woman who accused Guy Gerber of rape is sentenced to 15 months in prison
Guy Gerber rape allegation has reached its end after the court hands down a 15-month sentence to his false accuser.
A court in Ibiza has ruled in favor of Guy Gerber after deciding that a rape claim made against him wasn’t true. The judge sentenced a woman to a little over 15 months in prison for making the accusation publicly, a case that’s been talked about a lot in the dance music world.
The ruling dropped on December 23, with the court saying the assault never happened. Judges found that Mavi De Mars knowingly made a false claim when she accused Gerber of drugging and raping her at a party in Mykonos back in 2013.
The accusation came back into the spotlight in 2022 after De Mars shared her story on Instagram. The post blew up, getting shared hundreds of thousands of times and pushing the “Our Time Is Now” movement, which encouraged others to speak out against rape and quickly put Gerber under public fire.
But in court, there was no solid proof to back it up. Judges said there were no medical records, no drug tests, and no witnesses, and pointed out that the incident was never reported to police or doctors at the time.
The judge sided with Gerber’s version of events, saying the encounter was consensual and happened at a friend’s place. The ruling also said the accusation hurt his career badly, leading to canceled shows and lost work.
The false accuser has been ordered to post the full court decision on her social media for six months and cover legal costs. The case highlights the seriousness of posting serious accusations online and the potential consequences for everyone involved.
