Calvin Harris and John Summit to headline free event during Miami’s National Championship weekend

Miami quietly announces a free legendary B2B with Calvin Harris and John Summit during the National Championship weekend.

Miami is once again reminding everyone that it does not operate like a normal city. Next weekend, Calvin Harris and John Summit are taking over South Beach for a completely free, open-air concert, turning Ocean Drive into a full-blown beachside dance floor. No tickets, no wristbands, no paywall, just show up and commit to comfort in the chaos.

Happening at Lummus Park, which is right on the beach. The event is part of a larger championship weekend takeover for the University of Miami. Saturday is the main event, other than the big game. The B2B headline is from one of dance music’s longest-tenured pioneers, Calvin Harris, playing alongside the ex-bender king, John Summit. Gates open in the early evening this Saturday, but first-come, first-served means it is not a casual stroll-in. If you want a decent spot, you’re getting there early, hydrating aggressively, and accepting that this will likely turn into one of those “worth it but exhausting” Miami nights. Free Calvin Harris alone is enough to pull a crowd; add in Miami’s golden boy, Summit, and it is guaranteed to be beyond packed.

Sunday is a different lane of music, with a Latin-heavy lineup and a heavy Miami culture influence. Peso Pluma, a Mexican artist, is headlining his first show in the Florida city. Described as a blend of trap and pop with a Latin influence, the artist is sure to draw a crowd in the Miami heat. Miami has always had a talent for casually dropping massive artists into public spaces and acting like it’s normal behavior. This is one of those weekends where you either show up and experience it or watch the videos later and regret not going. The championship game between the University of Miami and Ole Miss will happen on Monday, January 19th, in the evening.
