The Rave Ref alleges violent removal from Svdden Death show at Silo Dallas

A viral video from the RaveRef has ignited community-wide discussion after an alleged altercation with security during a high-energy Svdden Death performance at Silo.

A Svdden Death performance at Silo in Dallas, Texas, has become the center of controversy after allegations surfaced involving Wendell Dominguez, better known in the rave community as the Rave Ref. Dominguez, whose referee-themed persona is widely recognized at bass music events, shared a video detailing what he claims was a violent removal by venue security.

The Rave Ref project began as a lighthearted Halloween costume and evolved into a grassroots safety effort embraced across the EDM scene. Known for blowing a whistle, organizing pits, and helping fallen ravers, Dominguez has been widely praised for promoting mosh pit etiquette and preventing injuries at high-energy shows.

According to Dominguez, security at Silo allegedly confronted him during the Svdden Death set and demanded he stop his Rave Ref activity. He claims he explained that he was not instigating mosh pits, which are common at dubstep shows, but instead helping keep attendees safe as they happened organically.

Despite this, Dominguez alleges he was forcibly removed, picked up, dropped on his head, pushed through the crowd, and ultimately thrown out by his neck. Visibly upset, he shared the video to explain the situation, saying the experience sharply contrasted with the praise he typically receives from venues.

The Rave Ref Svdden Death video quickly drew support from artists and fans alike. Svdden Death himself commented, “what the actual f***,” while DJ Phonixx urged Dominguez to pursue legal action and described similar alleged threats from venue security in the past.

Attendees also weighed in, with one fan claiming they were nearly knocked down and elbowed by security during the removal, saying it ruined the rest of their night. As fans tagged promoter Disco Donnie seeking accountability, the incident has reignited debate over how venues balance crowd control with the culture and safety values of the rave community.
