Soundcheck DC announces ‘Last Call’ closing series lineup
The Washington, D.C. Dance institution Soundcheck DC is closing up shop, with its ‘Last Call’ Series continuing into January.
Soundcheck DC is officially entering its final chapter. The D.C. dance music staple venue dropped the announcement for its ‘Last Call’ January closing series, pulling together a lineup that feels like a decade of D.C. nightlife distilled into a multimonth celebration.
The lineup for the second month of the closing celebration, which began in December, features artists such as Gareth Emery, Shlomo, Elephante, Cosmic Gate, Prosecute, and Markus Schulz.
The venue announced its closure on Instagram a few weeks ago, posting, “Introducing our January LAST CALL Closing Series lineup. We can’t wait to close out our last month with these incredible artists. With a little something for everyone, we couldn’t think of a better way to send off a decade at 1420 K St NW. Presale for all shows begins Thursday, November 20th at 10 am ET. General on sale this Friday, November 21st at 10 am ET. Make sure to lock in early; these final shows will sell out. See you on the dance floor one last time this January.”
SoundCheck’s finale run taps the artists who defined its rooms and the crews who kept the energy alive from open to close. It is a final nod to the dancers, the locals, the touring names, and the countless nights where the floor never quit.
However, as this line-up runs the entire month of January, the ‘Last Call’ series reads more like an encore and celebration of the countless nights spent dancing at the venue, with line-ups and artists spanning bass, house, techno, and everything in between. Rather than a shuttered goodbye, it gives patrons a chance to dance one last time in a venue that helped raise many of D.C.’s dance music fans. January marks the end of an era, and D.C. is already bracing for a month of last dances.
