Matteo from Mathame welcomes first child with wife Federica
Baby Noa’s arrival was revealed through a symbolic timestamp shared on Instagram.
Matteo Giovanelli, the older brother of melodic techno duo Mathame, has welcomed his first child, a baby named Noa, born on December 1, 2025, with his wife, Federica Barbella Giovanelli. Matteo announced the news on Instagram, captioning a carousel of black-and-white photos using a Julian day timestamp, an astronomical time format, reading “2025-335T14:21:25 CET.” The number 335 corresponds to the 335th day of the year, marking Noa’s exact birth date.
This timestamp choice is deeply intentional and stylistically aligned with Mathame’s universe of cosmic symbolism, futurism, and dystopian aesthetics. It transforms a simple birth announcement into a moment that feels like a page from a cosmic logbook.
Matteo and his brother Amedeo grew up in northern Italy and began producing music together in the early 2010s. Their parents’ work in astronomy played a meaningful role in shaping Mathame’s identity, often reflected in the duo’s visual themes, sonic choices, and conceptual approach.
Today, Mathame stands as a defining act in the melodic techno space, recognised for their emotionally charged, cinematic sound, influenced by sci-fi worldbuilding, mythology, and futurist storytelling. Matteo, often regarded as the architect of the project’s sonic and conceptual direction, occasionally contributes vocals as well. They’re widely known for their breakthrough tracks, including “Nothing Around Us,” “Skywalking,” and “To Hope”. They’ve toured globally and made appearances at Tomorrowland, Ultra, and Awakenings.

In the announcement photos, Matteo gently places his hand over Noa beside Federica. On her Instagram, she shared her own heartfelt post celebrating their child’s arrival. The couple married in 2023, and this marks their first child together. The birth announcement drew warm congratulations from numerous artists and industry peers.
