Nic from Love Island interviews Subtronics about his new album ‘Fibonacci Part 2’ and future plans

The dubstep producer opens up to Love Island star about world-building, risk-taking, and preparing six unique shows as he readies ‘Fibonacci Part 2, Infinity’.

Nic from Love Island sat down with dubstep producer Subtronics for a wide-ranging conversation that began in a cozy coffee shop and quickly moved into the depths of creativity and craft. The DJ, who recently moved to Venice, joked about his love for vinyl aesthetics even though he finds vinyl DJing “really hard.”

Subtronics discussed the evolution of his mathematically inspired album universe, spanning ‘Fractals’, ‘Tesseract’, and now ‘Fibonacci’. He explained that the Fibonacci concept represents everything he wants to express at once, blending high-energy festival tracks with introspective, headphone-friendly moments. Part one leans heavier, while part two is more emotional and reflective.

He emphasized his commitment to experimentation and learning, saying his drive to explore new genres keeps his sound fluid and boundary-breaking. From early UK dubstep influences to house, techno, and beyond, he said his project grows by expanding into anything that fascinates him. “I want to prove that I can do everything,” he told Nic.

With ‘Fibonacci Part 2, Infinity’ approaching, Subtronics is preparing for six sold-out shows at The Shrine, each featuring a completely different set. With nearly 400 tracks in his catalog, he wants every night to highlight a different slice of his discography. He also hinted at guest appearances and unannounced collaborations tied to the new project.

The producer opened up about the challenges of finishing music, describing the fine line between inspiration and obsession. Some tracks come together in hours, while others spiral into hundreds of exports as he chases perfection. Still, he said the emotional impact of his music on fans, especially those dealing with anxiety or depression, remains his biggest motivation.

Toward the end, he reflected on his personal growth since his early SoundCloud days, crediting his wife, Level Up, for helping him become more emotionally mature. With major performances ahead, including a 2026 Coachella debut, Subtronics said he still can’t believe how far he’s come, even as he continues to push his creativity into new dimensions.
