Tiesto to headline Giza pyramids show amid rave ban debate
Despite an ongoing lawsuit to ban raves at the site, Tiësto has announced a once-in-a-lifetime performance in December at the Great Pyramids of Giza.
World-renowned DJ and producer Tiësto is set to perform at one of the world’s most iconic landmarks, the Great Pyramids of Giza, on December 19, 2025. The news marks his long-awaited debut at the ancient site. The show, presented by P+US, is expected to draw thousands of fans for a night of high-energy electronic music beneath the desert stars. Tiësto’s upcoming event follows recent headline performances by Anyma, Carl Cox, and Keinemusik at the same venue.
But the celebration comes amid controversy. The Egyptian Center for Economic and Social Rights (ECESR) recently filed a lawsuit seeking to halt large-scale raves and electronic festivals at the Pyramids, citing potential structural damage to the 4,500-year-old monuments. The complaint, supported by Egyptologist Monica Hanna, claims that seismic vibrations from massive sound systems and laser displays could threaten the stability of the ancient stone structures.

The court case has yet to reach a verdict, and no injunction has been issued to stop the upcoming show. For now, Tiësto’s concert at the Pyramids remains on the schedule, raising questions about how Egypt balances tourism, culture, and heritage preservation. Many fans view the event as a historic celebration of global music, while critics see it as a dangerous precedent.
The December performance will feature Tiësto’s signature blend of progressive house and big-room energy. The event will run from 6 p.m. to midnight, with strict entry rules, a phone use policy, and no on-door ticket sales.
Early bird tickets for Tiësto’s Pyramids of Giza performance are going for approximately $75. VIP access costs about $130, and backstae standing tickets are priced around $255. Organizers have not yet announced if additional ticket tiers will be released closer to the event.
