Levity’s John Hauldren acts fast with Narcan during festival emergency

The Seven Stars Festival incident sparks reflection on community care and harm reduction following Levity’s John Hauldren’s heroism.

This past weekend, a series of unforgettable events took place at the long-awaited return of Griz at his first-ever Seven Stars Festival. With a powerhouse lineup and unforgettable moments across three days of music, Levity delivered a standout presence with four appearances.

They kicked off the weekend Friday night with a B2B set alongside Alleycvt at the Barn Burner stage, then joined Effin on the Zodiac Stage for a surprise daytime appearance on Sunday. Later that night, Levity returned for their scheduled main stage performance, before closing out the weekend with a high-energy after-hours set back at the Barn Burner featuring Crankdat, Tape B, and Alleycvt once again.

During that final set, the atmosphere shifted when a wave of flashlights lit up the crowd—a clear signal that someone needed help. Without hesitation, John Hauldren cut the music and called out on the mic, asking if medical assistance was needed. When fans confirmed, he followed up immediately: “Do you need Narcan?”

After receiving another round of yeses, Hauldren grabbed Narcan from his bag and announced that he would toss it into the crowd to be passed back. Fans and artists alike acted quickly, ensuring the medication reached those in need. Moments later, another emergency occurred deeper in the crowd, prompting Hauldren to assist medics by guiding them toward the flashing lights.

At that point in the night, the Barn Burner stage was densely packed, and the farm terrain made it difficult to move through. As the situation unfolded, Crankdat addressed the crowd, ending the night early and instructing attendees to exit from the left to clear space for emergency responders. Following the festival, Levity shared an update on social media, confirming that those who required medical attention had been treated and were stable. 

The moment has since sparked conversation about the importance of harm reduction at festivals—especially as reports emerge of certain events restricting Narcan at entry. In a scene built on connection and collective energy, caring for one another extends beyond the dance floor. Whether it’s checking in on a friend, slowing down when needed, or being prepared for emergencies, these actions protect the very spaces that unite us.
