Dirtybird CampINN guests have faced surprise $1K+ hotel charges after HomeBass reportedly missed payments.

Over the weekend, attendees at Dirtybird CampINN have reported receiving unexpected hotel charges exceeding $1,000, despite purchasing “all-inclusive” packages covering both event access and lodging. The shock has spread quickly through social media, prompting uproar and demands for answers.

Guests have claimed that HomeBass failed to pay the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando on schedule, forcing the hotel to place large holds on credit cards just to check in. While HomeBass had publicly promised that any incidental charges “beyond those outlined in our FAQ” would be automatically refunded, the hotel has since confirmed it has not yet received full payment. As a result, attendees were charged in full at checkout—leaving many in financial limbo.

Some festivalgoers have accused the promoter of delaying payment while banking on selling more rooms mid-event — a move that’s drawn sharp criticism from fans who had already invested thousands in advance. “Every aspect of this event felt like a scam,” one user posted, also noting delayed stage builds, lack of ADA access, and no-shows from advertised hosts.

In response, HomeBass has issued a public apology, citing a “breakdown in communication” and stating it has begun processing refunds through its ticketing platform. However, many remain skeptical after a weekend of mixed messaging and little visible progress toward resolution.

Compounding the disruption, HomeBass has now announced that the festival venue will be relocated to the Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa (the event’s “new venue, same home”) for its next edition, just in time for EDC Orlando. Every guest will reportedly be upgraded: a King room becomes a one-bedroom unit, double-queen transforms into two-bedroom, suites into three-bedroom, and so on. The move promises lakefront amenities, a water park, a lazy river, a bowling alley, and unexpected surprises.

This incident has added another chapter to HomeBass’s string of logistical issues over venue shifts and last-minute changes. While fans will remember the beats and pool parties, many will also remember the surprise charges—and hopefully a stronger commitment to transparency next time, especially under the electric sky.
