The club has spent the summer upgrading its home base at 289 Tenth Avenue, and partygoers have now witnessed the results firsthand. With its reputation for hefty ticket prices and a bottle-service-first floor plan, Marquee has decided it was finally time to throw a bone to the general admission crowd.

The biggest change has come in the form of an expanded dance floor. For years, club veterans have joked that Marquee’s GA section felt more like an afterthought than a destination, but the removal of a central bar has opened up breathing room for anyone without a glowing bottle in hand. DJs have also been brought closer to the action with a booth lowered to eye level and pushed further into the crowd—meaning those prime-floor spots have suddenly become a hot commodity.

A visual centerpiece has arrived in the form of an 8K LED wall that towers 25 feet high, stretching from behind the booth and curving around the space. The system has delivered an immersive glow that has complemented the retooled lighting and sound design. Management has described the upgrades as a return to basics, with elegant wood and brass accents recalling Marquee’s earliest days. In other words, less spaceship, more sophisticated nightclub.

During the renovation period, Marquee has not exactly gone silent. The team has relocated its weekend chaos to The Edge’s Skydeck, keeping the brand alive while construction dust settled back in Chelsea. The makeshift summer home has ensured New York’s night owls have not missed their fix of bottle parades and bass drops.

Since reopening, guests have experienced a room that has felt both familiar and refreshed. Longtime fans have celebrated the bigger dance space, while skeptics have admitted that, yes, Marquee has finally listened to those “less tables, more dance floor” pleas. Even so, don’t expect prices to drop any time soon—Marquee has not earned its reputation as one of the city’s priciest nights out by accident.

With version 3.0 now live, Marquee has written another chapter in its storied nightlife history.
