Modestep postpones album release due to severe spinal injury

British electronic rock band Modestep shares a personal announcement regarding Josh’s spinal injury and album delay.

Modestep posts on their Facebook page for fans regarding the progress of their album. In the post, Josh shares that his spinal injury has created ongoing health issues that have left him in severe pain.

As a result, the prominent band member is not physically able to create the kind of content that the upcoming album deserves. Ultimately, this delay is not about being against releasing music. Matter of fact, this important announcement from the Modestep primary member is about creating unhurried and genuine music.

The prominent artist explains to fans that the relentless tour schedule, combined with exhausting studio sessions, has taken a toll on his body’s recovery. Ultimately, Josh Friend decides to delay the album release, setting the new release date to September 26th.

Josh explains that this recovery period will allow his body to heal properly. Moreover, Josh is using this period to build everything around the record.

X (formerly known as Twitter) fans respond to the news, holding space, empathy, and solidarity for the injured artist. Notably, Modestep confirms under a fan’s reply that Modestep will 100% still be going to Lost Lands.

Modestep makes it up to fans with two special announcements, including a single from the album releasing next week. Furthermore, Modestep announces a 2025 European Tour named “Give Up The Ghost”, starting in November 2025.

Modestep announces that this tour will be the first time in ten years that the band goes on the road across the United Kingdom and Europe with the full live band. The tour will start in Belgium and end in London by the end of the month. Moreover, the band will also be performing in Manchester, Vienna, Warsaw, Prague, and Budapest.
