BIJOU reveals Catch & Release was the only label to believe in his sound after years of career challenges

BIJOU has found renewed purpose through Fisher’s Catch & Release Records after experiencing career burnout and industry rejection.

BIJOU has opened up about his recent creative struggles as an artist in a candid Instagram post. The DJ and producer known for his trademark “G-House” sound faced burnout, stress, and confusion over his career trajectory and life before Fisher’s Catch & Release Records gave him a new beginning.

“After the tour with marten I was burned. It showed in my everyday life and in my brand and music. I was disconnected and lost with what to do next after the biggest tour of my career. So instead of pushing forward I decided to hide,” he wrote. “It’s a cowardly way to handle stress and confusion.”

He goes on to describe his struggles with the future of his sound. “No labels wanted to sign the music I was making. They all just thought I was the g house dude that wanted to do something different and didn’t take me seriously,” he confides. “It felt like I had started all over again and was back to 2015 when my come up really started to happen as an artist, but this time I had everything to lose.”

“I’d been working relentlessly trying to find my sound again when one label took notice and really believed in what I was doing. Someone who’s believed in my sound in the early years still did and that’s when Catch & Release came into play. It showed me once again that pushing thru and being that person who doesn’t quit is what really matters most,” he continues.

BIJOU, born Benjamin Dorman, is known for blending hip-hop and classic house elements into a sound that, according to Insomniac, is “live enough for the underground, but mean enough to hold down any main stage.” His career blossomed after dropping “Hello”, a wildly successful collaboration with Dr. Fresch in 2016. He’s currently in the midst of his massive Mind Eraser tour, with dozens of dates across the country and more TBA.
