RÜFÜS DU SOL has responded after a woman was attacked at their sold-out Rose Bowl show, calling the violence “unacceptable” as police investigate.

Australian electronic group RÜFÜS DU SOL has issued a statement after a woman was violently attacked during their sold-out performance at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on August 16th. The incident occurred during the opening act of the group’s final North American tour stop. On August 21st, the Pasadena Police Department detectives arrested 23-year-old Julio Cesar Lopez Zavala, and formal charges are currently pending.

In an Instagram story, the band said they were “heartbroken to hear of the act of violence that took place” and emphasized their commitment to providing safe environments at their shows. “This type of behavior is completely unacceptable anywhere, and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to learn about,” the statement read. The group urged anyone with information to contact the Pasadena Police Department.

The incident reportedly began after a drink was spilled on a man seated in front of the victim and her group. Despite apologizing, the man left his seat and returned about 30 minutes later, according to the victim’s account shared online. She alleged the man began shouting threats before punching her in the face, knocking her unconscious.

The woman, who had traveled from Arizona to attend the show, later described the experience as “traumatic.” She said she awoke in the venue’s medical tent with significant injuries and had missed the entire performance. Friends who attempted to intervene said the attacker fled into the crowd before security or law enforcement could locate him.

Videos circulating online appear to show a man striking the woman multiple times in the stadium’s bleachers. Pasadena police have confirmed that the suspect is now in custody.

RÜFÜS DU SOL, comprised of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George, and James Hunt, is one of the world’s most prominent electronic acts. The group recently concluded the North American leg of its ‘Inhale/Exhale World Tour 2025,‘ which supports their fifth studio album released in October 2024.
