Porter Robinson finally brings Shelter’s animation to life with official Rin figure release

Good Smile Company has partnered with Porter Robinson to bring the beloved animated character to collectors worldwide.

Rin, the anime-inspired star of Porter Robinson and Madeon’s “Shelter” music video, will officially come to life via an action figure. In partnership with Good Smile Company, a Tokyo-based figure company renowned for its high-quality collectibles, Robinson has created a perfect scale version of the beloved animated character, complete with her iconic tablet in hand.

Robinson excitedly announced the news on Instagram exactly 9 years after the song was released on August 11, 2016. “Smth we’ve been working on forever, I’ve been wanting this to exist for ages,” he wrote in his characteristic enthusiastic style. The accompanying music video was released in October 2016 and is considered one of the best electronic music videos for its emotional impact and artistic merit, garnering millions of views and widespread critical acclaim.

The “Shelter” music video follows Rin, a pink-haired 17-year-old girl living alone in a simulated world. She uses her tablet to create and control virtual worlds around her, crafting beautiful landscapes and scenarios as her only form of interaction. Over the course of the video, it is revealed that she is the last survivor of Earth’s destruction and lives in a spaceship that her father created to keep her safe in this virtual environment, a heartbreaking tale of love, sacrifice, and isolation.

The video was created by A-1 Pictures, a Japanese animation studio known for groundbreaking anime like Sword Art Online, Your Lie in April, and Fairy Tail. Their collaboration brought Porter Robinson’s vision to life with stunning animation that perfectly complemented the track’s emotional depth.

The figure can be preordered now and retails for $48.99. Due to geographical licensing restrictions, the figure is only available in the United States and Canada. There is also a $15 tariff fee added on top of shipping and taxes. The figure is available for preorder here.
