Concertgoers in awe over bear spotting at Red Rocks Russ concert

At Red Rocks, even the bears don’t want to miss the music. A look at the cub who wandered in to the iconic venue.

It’s not every day you see a bear on your way to a concert — unless, of course, you’re at Red Rocks Amphitheater on a summer night in Colorado.

On Tuesday, July 8, as fans gathered to see rapper Russ, (according to Red Rocks schedule) with special guest Big Sean and opener Sabrina Claudio, an unexpected guest made an appearance: a bear. Yes, an actual bear. Or as one concertgoer who shared the photos, Jon Amundson, put it, “Been to Red Rocks 100 times, finally seen a bear. And yes it’s a bear. There was 2 actually. Awesome,” Denver7 | KMGH-TV shared on Instagram.

The bear was spotted strolling along a sidewalk while fans were making their way into the venue. Thankfully, both bears and humans seemed to respect each other’s space. One Instagram user even gave props to the crowd in the comments, writing: “High five to all the fans who kept their distance. Great moment to experience.”

Naturally, the moment had social media buzzing. Denver7 | KMGH-TV called the sighting an “An unlikely visitor” in their post, though some folks might say, it’s just another Tuesday in Colorado.

Another commenter nailed the vibe, saying: “Everyone likes music.” A third chimed in with a perfect pun: “He ‘bearly’ made it before the gates closed.” We’re not sure if the bear came for the beats or the breathtaking views, but clearly, it has good taste.

And let’s be honest, if you were a bear living near Red Rocks, wouldn’t you want to check out the lineup too? Especially on a perfect summer evening with a stacked show.

Whether the bears stayed for the show or just wanted to scout out a snack stand remains a mystery. But one thing’s for sure: this was one concert that no one — furry or not — will forget.

As Denver7 put it best: “Even Mother Nature can agree: there’s nothing better than a Red Rocks concert on a Colorado summer night!”

The music community and industry has a special place in my heart and I love exploring the depths. EDC Las Vegas is my favorite festival and this year will be my sixth time attending.
