Exron: You recently made the move from Toronto to Miami! How has the transition been, and how has your new home been treating you?
Carmelinda: Yes, I am grateful to say that I have been able to call Miami home now and I absolutely love it. The transition has been graceful. Right off the top, the experience landed from an invitation to be here working as an artist. Music got me here in a big way… along with the Grace of God of course.
I have been immersed in music since getting here just over two years ago. So much inspiration here. The energy is dynamic and the house music scene is big and active with fun events, festivals, and places to go and play at your fingertips. There are so many artists here, producers and lovers of house music so the conversation is everywhere along with other talented artists. It’s fueled my passion in many ways.
Exron: Your artistry centers on blending house music and wellness. How do these two worlds intersect for you, and how do they shape your creative process?
Carmelinda: The world of music and wellness as a DJ and facilitator blend beautifully from my perspective. As a DJ, I am always tuned in with what the audience needs based on what I feel from them and the space energetically.
I am holding space for the audience and when I play and curate events or a guiding a practice. I am always inspired to bring soulful music into wellness experiences as I see how the two invoke emotion and can bring people on a journey. My passion is seeing people connect more deeply with themselves and this occurs on a dance floor as well as a practice space. Music as part of wellness experiences amplifies the richness and depth of the spiritual practice.

Exron: What first sparked your passion for DJing and music production? Was there a defining moment that set you on this path?
Carmelinda: Yes, there was definitely a defining moment for me when I decided I wanted to DJ. I was stressed… my dog was dying and I could sense my marriage was beginning to move towards its closure. I was in an incredibly anxious state and knew I needed something to focus my mind and uplift my spirit. I moved fast! I immediately reached out for DJ lessons and found very fast that the journey of learning was bringing life back to my soul and uplifting my mood.
After approximately 9 years of DJ’ing, I felt inspired to learn something new and to take my brand to the next level and the industry has changed. Producers are respected more than DJs in a way, and I knew to grow my next step had to be production. It’s a natural evolution for a lot of artists. It’s landed me more credibility.
Exron: How would you describe your style in three words?
Carmelinda: Deep, Sexy, Mature
Exron: Who are some of your biggest musical influences? And if you could collaborate with any artist, who would be at the top of your list?
Carmelinda: My first favorite DJ is Danny Tenaglia. I was “too young” for the scene but got myself in and fell in love with what he was playing at the time. “Turn Me On” will always be one of my favorite house tracks. Right now, I am loving anything under the Maccabi House Label. Loving the vibe of Yamagucci and when in the mood for something softer, I love Keinemusic.
Collaborating with Yamagucci, Adam Ten or Mita Gami would light my soul. I also have deep respect for Blondish as a wildly successful female DJ and fellow Canadian. Her happy energy is super refreshing to me. I’d love to collab with her too!
Exron: Your debut single, “Let Me In”, introduced listeners to your sound. What was the inspiration behind the track, and what message did you want to share through it?
Carmelinda: Funny enough both “Let Me In” and my recent record “Keep Moving On” were both inspired by heart ache… They were at different times in my life however without saying “too much” they were both apart of the same relationship journey.
“Keep Moving On” has worked as a mantra for me in the depths of the hardest phase of a relationship ending when I had some real heavy stuff to process. So much more I can say about that but I prefer to keep it simple FOR NOW.
Exron: How do you want people to feel when they hear your music?
Carmelinda: I want people to fall in love with themselves when they hear my music. I want them to connect with the essence of who they are, precious, divine creations. It’s all energy and my intention is to provoke a flow of energy in people that gets them feeling liberating, beautiful and peaceful.
Exron: I saw you’re a yoga teacher as well. Do you incorporate your music into your classes?
Carmelinda: Yoga is a massive part of my life and music has been a huge part as well. These are my two worlds and bringing them together brings me great joy. I choose my music for the yoga experience with a deep awareness of messaging and tone. Sometimes music can provoke heavy feelings in people if the tone or lyrics are heavy so I am mindful of the way it may influence the experience.
Exron: You’re the founder of Soul Revival Prana Parties. Can you tell us how you started and what attendees can expect?
Carmelinda: Soul Revival was born during my first yoga teacher training at a time where there weren’t many events of this nature around. My mission was to bring my two worlds together. I love building and supporting community and Soul Revival which I launched with my dear friend Stephanie Mills was the perfect avenue. People flocked to our initial one and consistently since then. What a joy it is to witness people bond with one another on their mats and the dancefloor.
Soul Revival is a growing passion and brand and I am thrilled to take it on the road, bringing in more djs and artists of all types and people of all types. We stand for unity and inclusivity. People can expect wellness through yoga and movement practices and dance in a community of open-minded and loving souls.
Exron: As someone forging your own path in the music industry, what advice would you give aspiring DJs and producers, especially women looking to break into the scene?
Carmelinda: Stay authentic. It’s easy to take the path of “people pleasing” and even potentially exploiting yourself but ask yourself what you truly want to represent. As a female DJ, I strongly encourage you to truly make it about the music and the experience for your audience. You’re an artist whether you’re playing for 10 people or 1000, if you’re in it for the right reasons. Let your heart speak through your music and be conscious of the energy your music provokes.
Collaborate with other authentic people and hold a very clear vision of what you’d like to achieve.
Exron: What’s ahead for you in 2025? Can we expect more music or special events?
Carmelinda: I’m excited to continue producing music, expand Soul Revival to a wider audience, and to let my music speak my truth. I hope to encourage women to pursue their passions whether in music or anything else. Stay tuned for more collaborations!
