Paris Jackson celebrates five years sober from alcohol and heroin addiction

Michael Jackson’s beloved daughter Paris shares an incredible sober milestone with social media.

Congratulations are in order for Ms. Paris Jackson, daughter of the late international pop star Michael Jackson. Recently, the King of Pop’s daughter has celebrated a five-year milestone, elaborating that she’s now sober from heroin and alcohol. Paris, born in 1998, grew up in the spotlight and was only 11 when her father tragically passed away due to an overdose. Commemorating her journey and self-discovery through sobriety, Paris shared a touching and poignant post on Instagram.

“Today marks five years clean and sober from all drugs and alcohol,” Paris shared. “To say that I’m thankful would be a poor euphemism. Gratitude hardly scratches the surface.” In the video, accompanied by a heartfelt caption, Paris has been seen smoking substances, drinking, and appearing lethargic in dimly lit clips. The tone of the video has shifted as Paris began to film her AA tokens, given to members who achieve significant milestones in sobriety. The end of the video featured her and her boyfriend making music, hiking in the desert, and smiling with their dogs. The joy radiating from her, clearly sober, was palpable.

“It’s because I’m sober that I get to smile today,” gushed Paris. “I get to make music. I get to experience the joy of loving my dogs and cats. I get to feel heartbreak in all its glory. I get to grieve. I get to laugh. I get to dance. I get to trust. I feel the sun on my skin and it’s warm. I’ve found that life keeps happening regardless of whether I’m sober or not, but today I get to show up for it.” She ended her video with a written statement of gratitude, thanking those who have supported her on her journey to sobriety. She radiated peace and true joy.

Although many in America might remember Paris as a somber teenage girl with brilliant blue eyes at her father’s funeral, she has shown the world that she is so much more. She’s an artist, a musician, and a person of depth.

In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
