Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia claims they ‘had an album’ in the works but ‘scrapped it’

Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello shares their album has been scrapped for individual single releases.

Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello shares the trio had an album in the works, but dropped it entirely and instead used the work for single releases. The artist mentions “as a creator, if you’re not feeling something, it’s not gonna see the daylight.” When going through the creative process, not every piece of art makes it to the record label.

Swedish House Mafia released their latest album ‘Paradise Again’ in 2022, not too long after their reunion in 2018. In between, the members released singles leading up to the album release, but this time with a new flare. They took each of their individual tastes in music and fused it into what made ‘Paradise Again’ what it is today. It’s no surprise the trio’s next body of work is highly anticipated.

The EDM scene has a special place for the iconic trilogy. Originally forming in 2008, splitting up in 2013, and coming back together again in 2018, this group has highly influenced the music industry. Swedish House Mafia is known for their energetic live shows, blending elements of progressive house, electro-house, trance, pop, and hip-hop, collaborating with mainstream vocalists, and overall bringing electronic dance music to the forefront worldwide.

In addition, Swedish House Mafia has had their fan base on a roller coaster since their breakup in 2013. Electronic music producers Axwell, Steven Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso noted their rise to fame took a toll on their creative and personal lifestyles, impacting their relationships along the way. Since their return, they have prioritized not acting as machines, but making music how they want, when they want.

The decision to have a piece of work make or break into the industry is definitely something SHM has honed in on. Their anthem singles such as ‘Save the World’, ‘One’, ‘Greyhound’, ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’, and ‘Antidote’ are just a few releases the group is highly known for. To consistently release music that receives recognition, nominations, and awards is something to keep to a high standard.

There is no doubt that Swedish House Mafia is recognized for their contribution to making electronic dance music gain popularity. From their rise to fame to announcing their “One Last Tour”, Swedish House Mafia is known to be one of the most successful groups in the scene. Although their next album is unknown, the standards are high for what is to come – making them high on the “artists to watch” list for years to come.
