RL Grime claims iconic halloween mix is coming to an end after 13 years

RL Grime posts a cryptic Instagram post announcing the release of his final Halloween mix, ‘The End.’

On October 22, renowned electronic dance music producer and DJ RL Grime posted a cryptic Instagram post. Ultimately, the shocking post leads to the idea that RL Grime will discontinue his twelve-year tradition of releasing these Halloween mixes.

RL Grime’s cryptic Instagram posts start with a countdown from 1 to 8. With an eerie Halloween-esque track playing in the background, the countdown turns into a mysterious picture of a tombstone. What does this mean for RL Grime?

Moreover, in a large font, the tombstone displays the number eight with “The End” displayed under the tombstone’s header. Displayed on the lower proportions of the tombstone is “2012-2024”. Thus signifying “the end of a life”.

Fans comment below RL Grime’s Instagram post displaying disbelief and confusion while also attempting to push their grief with humor. Fans even joke around with the artist with the hope this means a Christmas mix is on the way. Conversely, some fans even nudge if the renowned bass and trap artist is simply trolling fans, similar to Odesza when they released ‘The Last Goodbye.’

In addition, fellow artists of the bass community Crankdat and Wooli, commented expressing their shock. The two artists ask for clarification and if this is a harmless joke. Likewise, Ravenscoon humorously comments below the Instagram post saying “Halloween is CANCELLED after this year.’

A tale as old as time, RL Grime came out with his first Halloween mix in 2012. Throughout the last twelve years, this has been a tradition to look forward to amongst the bass and trap music community. The eighth and final Halloween mix, The End, will be released on Friday, October 25th via RL Grime’s SoundCloud.

Yoooo, the homies call me Marz. I am a multidimensional Piscean Latina fairy from Miami-Dade County (no, not Florida). Electronic music has allowed me to appreciate the profound beauty that can be found in finding peace within the chaos. Artists such as Rezz, Skrillex, John Summit, Michael Bibi, and Amtrac blend the two seamlessly, creating a harmonious balance that resonates with me whenever I am on the dancefloor. When I am writing about electronic music, I feel this same balance of peace and chaos moving through me - starting in my hips, filling my heart, and radiating out from my soul. The power of music has brought me to this exact moment, and I only desire that you feel the warmth of the sun through my words.
