SoundCloud unveils rise in EDM fanbase engagement on platform during ADE panel

SoundCloud reveals the impressive uprise in electronic music fan engagement on their platform during a recent ADE panel.

During the most recent edition of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), SoundCloud has announced exciting insights into the world of electronic music, revealing that its fans are among the most engaged globally on the platform. The announcement arose during a panel during the renowned event, where SoundCloud CEO Eliah Seton and flourishing DJ/producer Mau P discussed the platform’s unique role in the industry’s landscape.

For years, SoundCloud has done a phenomenal job at cultivating a vibrant community centered around remix culture, live sets, and overall sound experimentation. Although fans and aspiring artists of various genres turn to the platform, recent data has confirmed that electronic dance music users take the gold when it comes to the app’s user engagement.

At the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), held from October 16-20, SoundCloud showcased its dedication to the electronic dance music genre through a series of various events. CEO Eliah Seton and Global Head of Music Emmy Lovell highlighted recent data indicating a notable increase in electronic dance music uploads on the platform, predicted to rise by roughly 21% at the end of 2024 compared to 2023. Additionally, electronic music overall plays have surged by about 6% since 2022, with the genre projected to account for nearly 22% of all plays on the platform this year.

SoundCloud’s data also suggests that EDM fans are significantly more likely to interact with content on the platform. According to results, 52% of dance music SoundCloud users are more inclined to comment on posted tracks, 104% are more likely to share tracks, and 85% are more likely to repost tracks compared to fans of other genres.

As electronic music continues to evolve, the platform continues to support new and emerging subgenres of EDM, which are reshaping the listening experience. Major artists like Kygo and Marshmello have built their careers on SoundCloud, so many aspiring DJs and producers are following in their footsteps and turning to the platform for visibility and potential discovery opportunities.

Only time will tell what next year will reveal about SoundCloud’s fan engagement data. However, this recent news unveiled during ADE showcases the high significance of the platform within the dance music sphere.
